Fair in the Rain

I did a half-day of work today so the whole family could catch the Half-Wits performance at the Fair, just outside the Grandstand. Wynn was recognized in the crowd by a groupie ... someone who works with Grandma Barb. That was kind of strange but nice.

After Wits we walked over to the West End to get dinner; the rain clouds were building up...

And as we got our food, the sky opened up in torrents.  Soggy walleye tacos eaten huddled up under an overhang next to some trash cans...

We took the Skyride to get back to the east side of the Fairgrounds, hoping it would let up.

It did not let up. Ann, Wynn, Paul, and I dashed from building to building, getting thoroughly soaked.  We hung out in the Fine Arts Building for a while to wait out the storm, had some ice cream, and slogged home in our squishy shoes...

When you live next to a cornfield, these kinds of photos are a mandatory part of growing up.  Seriously though, she is getting taller every day!

Our beautiful gardens

Sadly, this beautiful dragonfly would be eaten by a robin about 2 minutes after I shot the photo...
